As a native Montrealer I remember being so proud and excited when Dr Morgantaler was being arrested and juries were acquitting him. For half a century in Canada women have had the dignity of dealing privately with their doctors for abortions or anything else.

The notion that the government has right to interfere is abhorrent.

Thank you for this practical article

Thank you for this. I'm not sure I'm ready to give up some of the powerful imagery that uses coat hangers... but I definitely agree that images of abortion pills should become more prevalent, and I'll focus on circulating and using those! I'm grateful, as always, for healthcare workers speaking out about abortion and reproductive freedom.

My paternal grandmother was a nurse before she became a farmwife and mother of five boys, and I knew her as a well-read, outspoken, and progressive defender of women's health and their right to know about their own bodies and be active in their own healthcare. My mom has told me about how she was practically spitting nails when Dr. Morgentaler was jailed -- she was livid, and fierce in her conviction that healthcare (including abortion, and really anything to do with reproductive health) was between a woman and her doctor. Sadly, she died before I was old enough to think to engage her in conversation about these things. I know she would have been just as fierce about the attack on Roe v Wade, and about any potential encroachment on our rights here in Canada.

Great article. I took misoprostol for two missed miscarriages during fertility treatments... My doctors were conservative and we implanted single embryos. It was a very grief-filled process. I can't imagine having to wait until my body naturally aborted (while risking infection). Finally we implanted two and had twins. I actually struggled when deciding what to do with our leftover embryos a few years later. I feel good about the result, which I normally would openly share, but right now I'm like, "it's nobody's business!" I get dumbfounded when I consider all the ways women are being controlled with respect to reproduction. The information you provide is as good and essential as the organization the religious right employed politically over the years to make the stir they have. Thank you for this, it's so actionable and important.

Dr. Gunter, I spoke to one of the members of the CA Assembly Health Committee about these protections this weekend and I'd love to chat with you about getting this passed in CA, what's the best place to get in touch with you. Thank you!-Sandra Cordero

I've been emailing your articles to family in the US to be passed around. I'm heartsick about all this and hope this backwards movement doesn't spread up north.

Are there weight issues with these doses like there are with Plan B and Ella?
