Amazing resource — thank you!

This is amazing! May I have permission to share it with my patients. I work in a college health center and the mis/disinformation these students believe is staggering. I'm kind of getting tired of doing wet mounts almost every day!

This is Ah-mazing! Thank you, and I am keen for the lichen sclerosis chapter as I’ve suffered for years.

Love it! Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about vulvar moisturizers as ive been seeing a lot of them out there and am questioning whether I need it?

Yeah, a lot of questions there!

Hi Dr. Gunter, I was wondering if you could do a post about some of the new treatments for incontinence? Beyond traditional pelvic floor physio and pessaries, there seems to be some new modalities. Uresta (similar to a pessary) and recently I've been hearing about urospot. Its expensive so I hesitate to recommend it but if it works it sounds easier than kegels!

If there is no hyperlink, it still needs to be written. This is just to show you what I am building out and what is already written

This is awesome! So much misinformation out there so it is great to have this resource straight from a source. Will all the sections become active links soon? I just subscribed thinking that maybe that was the problem and it didn’t change anything. Have you ever discussed pre-puberty vaginal care? My daughter has suffered from an irritated vulva for years (age 8 now) and we haven’t figured it out.

This is what I have already written (with the hyperlinks) and what is planned. For most children with an irritated vulva, it is a contact reaction, and we recommend no soaps, soaking in a tub for 15 minutes twice a day, and adding a barrier ointment, like zinc oxide, or vaseline daily. This link has info. https://www.childrenscolorado.org/conditions-and-advice/conditions-and-symptoms/conditions/pediatric-vulvovaginitis/

Also, it is a good idea to see an expert to make sure she doesn't have skin condition, although these are less common, it's still a possibility. I

Thank you so much! I see now you explained that you were posting as you were writing the articles, sorry I missed reading that paragraph. We have been using zinc oxide which helps, but the redness always comes back, so maybe we just need to apply more frequently. We stopped using bath bombs and I have switched to a completely scent free detergent but I’ll keep looking for sources and also make an appointment with her paediatrician.

Hi,

I'm hoping anyone can help me. 20 years ago I had my right ovary & fallopian tube removed due to Cysts...

I'm unsure in how this will impact me regarding loss of oestrogen... future health.

I've read articles where 2 tubes/ ovaries have been removed, but not one.

I'd love to hear so.much more on this please.

If anyone can enlighten me, I'd be extremely grateful 🙏

Regards

Rose

Usually, when an ovary is removed early, it doesn't have a major impact on the age of menopause.

This is so helpful - thank you! unfortunately in the Uk so many of our GPs are lacking when it comes to female health and it’s become such a money spinner I am very wary of going to a menopause specialist. I use vagifem 2x a week for gsm but my vulva is still sore and sensitive - would you recommend using a cream (ovestin here in the UK) instead and splitting the dose between external and internal application? Or using both vagifem and ovestin please? I also have recurrent thrush (galbrata apparently related to gsm) but it doesn’t seem to respond to nystatin and am on a long waiting list to see a specialist. Many thanks once again.

About 80% or so of the time glabrata doesn't cause symptoms, so just keep that in mind.

Vagifem won't treat the vulva. This post might help https://vajenda.substack.com/p/ive-started-vaginal-estrogen-and

Thank you very much for replying. That’s very interesting re galbrata - something for me to ask about at my next appointment.
